 ‼️ = Must read!
 🧐 = Interesting, curio.

'AI' - Machine learning, deep or not.

- Tencent's HY-World 2. ‼️
I told you so? There's no doubt in my mind that video-gen won't be scalable for world/interactive models. This is a first step towards a hybrid - definitely not the last.

- Bolt3D: Generating 3D Scenes in Seconds. 🧐
Making a science of the idea of generating 3d objects by using an image model to do multi-view, and then from there, going to GS. Very nice - in general, "abusing" image models is smart, they "bake" visual intelligence, spatial understanding etc.

- Nuvo: Neural UV Mapping for Unruly 3D Representations. 🧐
Always liked the idea of embedding uv mapping in space instead on on surfaces. On meshes though it would be interesting to compare this method with "simply" fixing the mesh prior to the uv-mapping - which, incidentally, a parametrization like this could be used for!

- Seoul World Model.
You know how for view synthesis ML methods started from NERF, then went to GS, then to surfels, then to meshes, down to being closer and closer to photogrammetry and BRDFs? I feel that world models will eventually do the same. Here one is using a "RAG" database of street-view images to help the world model stay consistent. What would be even better? To keep 3d geometry around... like... a 3d scene...

Miscellanea.

- #gaming Adding Multiplayer to The Last of Us Part II. 🧐
People do crazy things. From what I can gather, this is right now all "closed source", I don't think that the modding tools he's using are public.

- #coding Google Highway.
Yet another wide vector lib (think numpy) for C++? Seems cute.

- #math Zeta Explained.
A (currently) seventy-six video series on the Riemann Zeta function. Internet at its best.

- #art Drawpile.
Collaborative (opensource) drawing tool. IRC for art.

- #art Cyberformance - Wikipedia.
TIL

- #demoscene Sum Ergo Demonstro. 🧐
Obligatory lft "retweet"

- #retro Microsoft Delta.
I learned of this ancient source-control system when furninshing my retro win3.11 install. But I didn't know of its history.

- Toxic maxsecurity. 🧐
Couldn't agree with tom7 more.

- Photography with no absorbtion. 🧐
I think most of us rendering people know that you get color from interference, did not know you can do photography with it. A very cute trick, using standard photographic emulsion "in depth".

- Pushing a crt to 4k (interlaced).
Because why not I guess. The video boasts some quite incredible claims, but I do suspect a quite healty dose of a variety of biases at play there TBH.

- Nuvo: Neural UV Mapping for Unruly 3D Representations. 🧐
Interesting idea, I always liked the concept of assigning UVs to space, instead of surfaces. That said, it would be interesting to compare such a well-behaved parametrization on bad meshes to "simply" fixing the mesh to begin with... Which incidentally a parametrization like this could be used for.
